What does one need to know about the female orgasm?

According to statistics, only 30% of women have an orgasm constantly during sex; others, once in a while. 70% of women do not orgasm from penetration and need external stimulation of the clitoris. Whilst many dream of a distant and unattainable vaginal orgasm, some are satisfied with masturbation.
It was proven not long ago that only the women who have neurological disorders either inherent or due to injury are not able to orgasm from the physiological point of view. But there are very few of those.
There are cases of anorgasmia caused by psychological traumas, stress, or hormonal dysfunction.
But in most cases, it stems from complexes. Shyness and ignorance of own body can get in the way of an orgasm.

What is an orgasm?
Physiologically, it is a series of involuntary and pleasurable muscle contractions. The muscles contract in the vagina, cervix and uterine body, anus and urethra. The number of contractions may vary from 3 to 15 times at intervals of about 0.8 seconds. The signal from the stimulation zone reaches the brain, which in turn responds with pleasurable sensations in the body. Scientists monitoring the reaction of the brain during the orgasm noticed that at that moment all the brain zones activated simultaneously, as if the brain got switched on.
In terms of psychology, an orgasm is a release of stress and emotions. The reaction after an orgasm is individual for each woman. Some feel like crying; others instantly want to fall asleep. On the whole, an orgasm has a positive effect on a person's psychological state: the stress level falls, the well-being improves, and the immune system activates.

Types of orgasms
We already know that an orgasm is a contraction of various muscles and a reaction of the brain. Therefore, it is not entirely correct to divide orgasms into types. Modern sexology is of the opinion that both external (clitoral) and internal (vaginal, anal) stimulations affect the clitoris, which transmits an orgasm signal to the brain.
By the way, the clitoris is not just a little hillock on the outside, above the opening to the vagina. It is more of an internal organ than an external one; only the glans and the hood are its visible parts. Everything else is hidden inside the pelvis and runs down either side of the vulva, hence the hypothesis that the clitoris is the only organ responsible for a female orgasm.
The stimulation of various zones depends on each woman's individual sensitivity. Therefore, it is difficult to give a precise definition what a conventional orgasm is and even more so to understand where deviations from the norm begin.

External stimulation of the clitoris
Most women can reach orgasm through external stimulation of the clitoris, as its external part has a large number of nerve endings and is very sensitive. Stimulation of the clitoris causes a reaction that is transmitted to the brain. For most, this is the most effortless and the briefest type of orgasm, and some women experience multiple orgasms from this kind of stimulation.
Studies show that only women are capable of having multiple orgasms. The reason is that certain parts of a male brain lose connection with the genitals after the orgasm, while in a female brain, it persists.

Internal stimulation of the clitoris
develops by acting on the inside of the clitoris through the front wall of the vagina. It is in this area, at the distance of about 3-4cm from the opening to the vagina, that a slight thickening of the vaginal wall, the fabled G-spot, can be palpated. This area is the centre of a large number of nerve endings. Therefore, their stimulation combined with the stimulation of the clitoris from inside often produces a longer and more intense orgasm accompanied by emotional outbursts.
There is a theory that an orgasm from internal and external stimulation is transmitted through different nerve channels, and this may be the reason why for some women the orgasm from internal stimulation is more vivid than from external stimulation. The theory is based on the studies of several women with spinal cord injuries. Despite a severed nerve connecting the clitoris and the brain, these women felt the vagina and cervix being touched; some of them experienced orgasm.
The cervix is a small canal that is located at the top of the vagina. During arousal, it lengthens and goes up and to the side, so this area can only be stimulated with a penis or a dildo, the figers cannot reach it.
Some women may not experience vivid sensations the first time; in this case, one can develop the sensitivity of the G-spot and the inside wall of the vagina with fingers or a specific vibrator with a curved head.
It is believed that stimulation of the G-spot can lead to squirting, known as female ejaculation, i.e., a discharge of a small amount of clear fluid, which consists of urine and some biologically active substances that are characteristic of the male body. In the female body, they are exuded in a form of adypocites or fat cells, for example, PSA, a prostate specific antigen. Not every woman can experience female ejaculation, nor does it happen during every sexual intercourse.

Orgasms from anal stimulation follow a similar principle. It is more characteristic of men because the prostate gland is stimulated through the rectum. But sometimes anal orgasms occur in women as well. This area has even more nerve endings than the G-spot.
Most women find it difficult to relax the muscles of the anus, as those contract involuntarily whenever touched. It will take some time to start getting pleasure from anal caressing with fingers and toys before you can move on to anal sex and exploring the erogenous zones.

Myotonic orgasm
This is a feeling of pleasure achieved by firmly squeezing your thighs and lower abs, without stimulating your genitals. You can sometimes experience a similar sensation doing sports or yoga because certain exercises allow blood to flow to the genital area and activate the necessary muscles.

Why do some women have no orgasms?
The orgasm occurs due to the interaction of the peripheral (PNS) and central nervous system (CNS). It starts with sexual arousal that occurs when the CNS is stimulated. Arousal is then intensified by stimulation of erogenous zones located in the PNS area. Arousal signals are transmitted to the CNS, exponentially amplified, and manifested as arousal and orgasm.
From a psychological point of view, complexes, insecurities, or beliefs that sex is something dirty or shameful give rise to disorders in the CNS-PNS or PNS-CNS chain. This obstructs the evolution of a meaningful sexual intercourse, enjoyment of the process, and, as a consequence, reaching orgasm.
Physiologically, some women find it a little easier to experience orgasms than others. For example, the closer the clitoris is to the opening to the vagina, the higher is the likelihood of having a clitoral orgasm from penetrative sex, as the penis penetrating the vagina also stimulates the clitoris.
Ignorance of own body and erogenous zones, shyness preventing one from exploring oneself and talking about one's preferences and desires with a partner are frequent reasons for not enjoying sex and orgasm.

What to do?
Physiological peculiarities can easily be corrected. For example, if the clitoris is not close enough to the opening to the vagina, it can be stimulated with a hand or a toy. If one wants a deeper penetration or wants to direct the penis into a certain area, the best position is the cowgirl position, etc.
Psychological attitudes need to be worked out by yourself, with your partner or psychologist. Try to trace what thoughts often distract you during sex or masturbation, what the brain keeps clinging to, or whether you have any complexes, conscious or covert, which, for instance, prevent you from trying a certain position, verbalising your desire to your partner, or just relaxing during masturbation. Start by working through these thoughts.
Everyone has a different level of sensitivity. But still, most people build on it with experience. You can enhance it either with a partner or on your own. When working with a partner, it is important to fully open up and trust your partner. This way, all erogenous zones can be identified, and the orgasm can be perfected. To overthrow the routine of conventional sex, it is worth diversifying it.
Masturbation helps to train the muscles and connections of nerve endings which are responsible for pleasure with the brain. Start getting to know your body and fix the pleasurable sensations in your subconscious.
The female orgasm is different from the male orgasm. It depends to a greater extent on the emotional state and the right choice of erogenous zones. And while initially only a quarter of women experience orgasm during sexual intercourse, with skilful training practically any woman can achieve it.
